The HeartSmart program is a program that will guide you through a process that will help you to learn how to respond to life more efficiently, effectively and appropriately. You will learn how to respond to situations, crises, problems,  and opportunities better. I like to refer to these events in our lives as challenges

The HeartSmart program will help you to better understand and be more aware of your body, your mind and emotions. Once this happens you will become more peaceful,  calm,  focused,  clear,  motivated, energised and generally happier.  In other words you will become HeartSmart.

Life is a process with a series of challenges that we are confronted with on a regular basis throughout our lives. Each one of these challenges presents us with an opportunity to learn, to change and to grow. How we respond to each of these challenges will determine how successful we will be in our lives. (If we welcome these challenges and learn from them they will be helpful)

As we grow and develop we learn skills and knowledge that we can use in the next challenge before us. It is like building a house or learning mathematical formula; we need to build a foundation. Unfortunately, along the way we may learn skills and gain knowledge that no longer works for us and may even work against us. They weaken our foundation. So we need to learn new skills and gain new knowledge.

Before, we embark on this exciting new journey of change and growth we need to recognize the need for change. You are fortunate that you have become aware of this need.  Fortunate because there are those who will continue to go through their lives doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Why or how you became aware is not important. What is important is that you are at this point in your life where you  recognize the need for a change and are willing to make the change.

You do not have to become a monk to get peace of mind. Anyone can achieve peace of mind. How much of peace of mind you want is up to you.

Through our own personal experience and observations of ourselves and our clients, we have follow the following principles

1. Practical

The HeartSmart program is practical . It was designed and written so that it can be used and applied in our everyday lives. We avoid theory as much as possible and when it is used it is to help explain a concept of the program.

2. Logical

The HeartSmart program is a step process. Each steps logically follows the other.  Some times people like to skip steps in their lives which often leads to problems in the future.

3. Understandable and clear

Often when something becomes too complicated, it can become overwhelming and can sabotage the process. We avoid theory as much as possible. HeartSmart program focuses on one issue at a time. If we try to change too much too fast we can get overwhelmed, defeated  and give up.

4. Focused

It is important that the coach and the client remain focused on the issue. The program gently guides people through the process of growth and change.

5. Realistic

The program does set unrealistic goals and does not ask people to do things that are beyond their capability.

6. Time

Today in this modern world people look for immediate results. The reality is that change takes time. It has taken most of our lives to get where we are. We need to trust and have patience. That we will change.

7. Commitment

The HeartSmart program is presented as a package. A person is committed once they pay for the process . They will continued to stay committed as they see changes

8. Looking to be fixed

HeartSmart does not fix. The HeartSmart program shows you how to help yourself. One of the most important parts of the program is practice. In every thing we learn we must practice. Be it in sports, music, business or in school we are learning new skills. We practice until whatever we are learning  becomes automatic. As we work through the process we practice so that it becomes automatic and replaces the old hindering skills.

9. Practice not  Talk

The HeartSmart program is not a talk program.  There will be some talking but the program will be focus on practice and  learning. We change and  a grow through practice .

10. Allowance

We do not force change, we allow it to happen.
